West Midlands 11 plus results tracker

Two different numbers get called the cut-off. The qualifying score is the floor: below it, an application is not considered at all. The score that secured a place is what the last child offered in a given category actually scored, and it can sit well above the floor. It does not always: Lawrence Sheriff School offered down to 213 in its category 5 for 2026 entry against a qualifying score of 213. Both are in the tables below, wherever the admission authority publishes them.

Use the picker to read one school on its own, or scroll through all of them. Where a school ran out of places on score alone, the distance that decided the last place is printed with the score, because that is how the authority published it.

A cut-off is decided long before the test, by how much ground a child has covered. That part is in a family’s hands and the score is not. Of the admission authority pages listed in the sources below and checked on 7 September 2026, Warwickshire is the one that publishes the anonymised score of every candidate who sat its test, in a spreadsheet in its school admissions document library. That makes it possible to say where a score sits in the cohort rather than only whether it cleared a threshold. The chart shows the most recent year the council has published.

Two cautions before anyone quotes these. A child can sit for more than one area in the same autumn, so a Warwickshire count is not a count of children preparing for the West Midlands test as a whole. That is the publishers’ own position, in their own words:

And the council’s own workbooks are not identically laid out from year to year, so each one was opened and read on its own labels rather than by position.

The King Edward VI Foundation publishes its own appeal outcomes. Of the admission authority pages listed in the sources below and checked on 7 September 2026, it is the one that publishes them. The national figure beside it is the Department for Education’s, for secondary places in England, and the two are not counted on the same basis, so both bases are given below.

The Foundation's own words for what this table covers: King Edward VI Grammar Schools. Two of the eight Birmingham schools in the tables above, Bishop Vesey's Grammar School and Sutton Coldfield Grammar School for Girls, are not King Edward VI schools, so their appeal outcomes are not in it.

Adding the three years the Foundation publishes gives 190 appeals lodged and 1 successful. The national figures are counted on a different basis, so both are given. For secondary school places in England in 2026, 34,800 appeals were lodged, 27,100 were heard by a panel and 5,300 were successful. The Department for Education's headline rate is 19.5 per cent, which is successful as a share of those heard; the release states that it calculates the rate that way. The two sets of figures are not otherwise comparable. One is three years at a group of grammar schools; the other is one year across every secondary school in England.

The Foundation’s page also states its own view of when an appeal works: Appeals are generally only successful if you or your child have exceptional reasons for needing admission to a particular school. The figures are here so that the decision is made with them rather than without them.

A tracker is only as honest as its holes. These are the pages that were opened, the date they were opened, and what was not on them.

Where a figure is missing it is missing because nobody has published it, not because it was hard to find. We are asking for the rest through the ordinary routes, and anything that arrives will appear here with its source and a changelog line.

A standardised score is not a mark. The test is scored against the rest of the cohort and adjusted for a child’s age in months, a score of 220 is not a count of correct answers and it is not a percentage. How the standardised score is built takes that apart properly.

Qualifying is not the same as being offered. Clearing the qualifying score puts a child into the queue. Which category the family falls into, and how many children in that category scored higher, decides whether the queue reaches them.

Categories are the real mechanism. Each school ranks applicants inside its oversubscription categories, in order, until the places run out. That is why one school can show a score of 210 in one category and 229 in another in the same year.

March is not the end. In the King Edward VI Foundation tables, and in those tables alone, the score in brackets is the score of the last child offered a place by September after the waiting list had moved. Counting the Foundation cells on this page that print both figures, the September score is at or below the March score in every one of them. Brackets elsewhere on this page mean something else: at Queen Mary’s Grammar School the bracketed figure is the score of the last person offered from the waiting list, and in a Camp Hill cell such as 5698 metres (6186 metres) both figures are distances.

A waiting list score is two different things on this page. In the Warwickshire tables, the minimum score for the waiting list is the council’s own floor: the score a child needed to get onto the list. In the Walsall table, the score of the last person offered from the waiting list is the school’s own phrase for a score at which somebody came off it. They are close to opposites, so the two columns are not comparable with each other and are named differently for that reason. The Birmingham tables carry no waiting list score at all; what they carry is the September score, which is where the Foundation’s waiting list movement shows up.

Distance breaks the tie. Where more children share a score than there are places left, straight-line distance from the school decides. Some of the figures on this page are a score and a number of metres for that reason.

Three things about that link, so nobody has to guess. It is the brand name, not a keyword. It is one link, visible to a reader, and there is no second one hidden anywhere in the block. And if your site’s policy is to qualify outbound links, add rel="nofollow" to it: the block is yours to use either way, and nothing on this page is conditional on the link being followed.

Every source document was downloaded, stored, and given a checksum. A script reads those stored files and writes the figures out; it refuses to run if a stored document has changed since it was checked, and it refuses to publish any figure that does not carry the document it came from and the place inside it. Nothing on this page is typed by hand into a table.

Where a publisher printed words instead of a number, the words are carried through exactly as printed, including All offered and Not published (due to Data Protection). Where a school prints a footnote about its own figure, the footnote is printed beneath that school’s table.

The Warwickshire per-criterion tables carry a check of their own. The offers this page reads out of each criterion have to add up to the total number of offers the leaflet prints for that school, or the build stops. All thirty-four school-years reconcile.

Four figures on this page are arithmetic of ours rather than a publisher’s, and each is labelled where it appears: the three-year appeal total, the national appeal rate on the lodged basis, the year-on-year movement notes, and the percentiles and bands in the cohort figure. Percentiles are nearest rank, with no interpolation between candidates, so a linear-interpolation method will give slightly different numbers. The histogram bands are five marks wide, inclusive of both ends.

Two documents from the same publisher occasionally disagree. Rather than pick one quietly, both are shown.
